With practices in Portishead and Weston super Mare (St George’s) Harbourside Hypnotherapy offers a high quality service for people of all ages, covering a wide range of conditions. I have many years experience as a mental health nurse and later on a Social Worker, giving me a vast range of skills and knowledge, with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Hypnotherapy is recognised by the British Medical Association, the American Medical Association and the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), hypnotherapy has proven to be a safe, effective alternative that can alleviate a wide range of problems in just a few hours of treatment.
The areas hypnotherapy can help with include, but are not limited to: anxiety, addiction, anger, blushing, blood pressure, confidence, depression, interview/exam nerves/driving test nerves, insomnia, lack of energy or motivation, IBS, relationship problems, headaches and migraines, nail biting, nightmares, obsessions, phobias, pain control, panic attacks, pregnancy/childbirth, relaxation, sexual problems, skin disorder, stress, smoking, sports performance, trauma flashbacks and weight control.
I start with a free initial consultation to establish your needs and you will receive a complementary relaxation CD to listen to before you go to sleep for the week between the initial consultation and the first session. Each session takes approximately one hour and you will be advised of the number of sessions likely to be needed.
My training, work experience and any achievement
In 1999 I graduated from the University of Bristol with an Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies.
I then went on to qualify as a social worker in 2001 and worked with adults and children to bring about positive change. My first practice opened in 2010 in Portishead and has now expanded to St George’s, Weston super Mare.
My strong belief that people can be enabled to bring about change for themselves led me to study at The Clifton Practice, the UK’s leading Hypnotherapy school with the aim of having my own full time practice. My academic experience along with a diverse professional background brings excellent results for people of all ages.
Further Information
Hypnotherapy is a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. The Psychotherapy in itself is extremely beneficial and its effects are enhanced by the application of Hypnosis, which enables the subconscious mind to make beneficial changes.
Many people believe that Hypnotherapy is something that is "done" to them, that they explain their issue to the therapist who then simply hypnotises their problem away, as if by magic.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a much more collaborative process and it is important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.
Subsequent Hypnotherapy sessions involve much more than Hypnosis. During the first part of each session we’ll talk about the progress you have made and I’ll be encouraging you to express yourself positively, focusing on solutions rather than dwelling on problems.
I’ll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. I’ll then guide you into a relaxed state of Hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.
